Housing

All postdoc housing is off-campus and independent of the university. Note that many housing options around town are based on the U.S. university calendar year (~Aug to ~Aug), and may not be flexible with starting/ending a lease at other times.

Once you have been hired, it is recommended that you start looking for housing ASAP as most of the good apartments fill up in the fall/winter for leases starting the following summer.

To apply (and/or request a tour if you are already in State College), call the main office or visit their website. Generally, there is an application fee (between ~$40-$300), a security deposit (about one month’s rent), and proof of income required when you apply.
Note: at some places, you will not get your security deposit back if they offer you a unit and you don’t take it.
