Services

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA) is committed to partnering with faculty to enhance the hiring, onboarding, mentoring, and training of postdocs. To support these activities, the OPA director offers an array of services:

• Onboarding Support: Equipping faculty with resources and information helpful in motivating a prospective postdoc to join us and welcoming them upon arrival.
• Recruitment: Referring to postdoctoral recruitment resources and publicizing an opening for current postdocs who may be interested in a switch.
• Resource Guidance: Answering questions about the resources available to postdocs on campus and in support of their careers, including an IDP process customized for Penn State.
• Grant Blurb: Customizing a paragraph in your grant proposal specific to the career and professional support offered to Penn State postdocs.
• Mentoring, Training, and Performance Management: Providing personalized guidance to help faculty excel in their supervision, mentoring, and training of postdocs.
• DiSC Workshop: Leading a workshop for your research group on DiSC assessment results and interpretation for improved interpersonal awareness and workplace collaboration.

Faculty mentors are welcome to attend any OPA program or join a 1:1 or small group postdoctoral career coaching session.
