Designed to help you navigate your postdoctoral appointment, access resources, and build community, this orientation offers a thorough introduction to life as a Penn State postdoc. The session will be led by Dr. Jennifer Nicholas, Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, and include 3 breakout room discussions. While we have 1.5 hours allocated, the core briefing will be concise, leaving much time for engagement, activity, and a final Q&A.
Highlights:
- Resources: Support for personal well-being and professional growth.
- Postdoc Policy: Rules, protocol, institutional insights.
- Mentorship Training: Practical strategies to proactively manage mentoring relationships, utilizing evidence-based practices from the Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER).
Though the first section especially has been crafted for new postdocs, experienced postdocs, faculty, and staff are encouraged to register and fully engage. We'll all benefit.
Note: This training has been selected as a Provost Endorsement Program. If you choose to extend the mentorship training through reflective activities post-orientation, you can gain a certificate in mentorship.
